Interview with
Andreas Praznik

Sales Director, Paper and Corrugated products
AGRANA Starch, Austria

"I like the fact that I have to face new challenges quite often."

Please introduce yourself!

My name is Andreas Praznik, I am Sales Director in the Starch Division and responsible for selling our products to the paper and corrugated industry. I have been part of the AGRANA Starch team in this position since 2018. My workplace is in our newest starch plant in Pischelsdorf | Lower Austria.

Where do you head first when you get to work?

My first stop is at the plant manager’s office where I inform myself about the current production status. Before I really get started with my daily to-dos, I first make sure there is fresh air in my office. While the air is blowing, I quickly get my daily dose of coffee to start the day well prepared.

What do like most about your job? What do you appreciate about your team?

What I like most about my job is the variety of activities and tasks. My team and I are often faced with new challenges and we are constantly challenged to develop our tasks and processes.

What tasks do you manage during a typical day?

My tasks are very varied. As my job title already indicates, the sale of our products, including intensive negotiations and close contact with our customers, are my main tasks.

Internally, it is important to coordinate with various departments from production to quality management, quality assurance and supply chain management.

As Sales Director, I lead an international team, so staff management and staff development are on my agenda as well.

How do you spend your lunch break?

I like to use the lunch break for collegial discussions.

What has been the best day in your job so far?

A really great moment in my working life was the opening ceremony of the new, second wheat starch plant in Pischelsdorf. On that day our plant was presented to the public and our customers.
